Did You Know?
The county seat which is also called Laurens (originally Laurensville) is a part of a Royal land grant from the King of England to John Rodgers in 1774. The courthouse here, built in 1838 by Dr. John Wells Simpson, is on the National Register of Historic Places.

The original courthouse which was erected in the 1780s was a log cabin.
